Beaches in Goa

Goa is very much similar geographically to the neighboring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka. Travel to Goa, to explore the mystical charisma of the exotic abode. It is a promise that a trip to Goa will add some golden moments in your memorabilia.

Situated around 1200 km south of Tropic of Cancer, the climate of Goa is more or less temperate, except during the monsoon. It lasts in the months of June to September. Weather of Goa is pleasant and sunny because the state lies on the western coast of Konkan. There is not sharp fluctuation in the temperature here as there is no clear demarcation among all the seasons except monsoon.

Miramar Beach Goa

Crowded in most of the season, mainly in the month of November to February, this beach has been tourists’ haven since a long time. It has not been given the name “Queen of Beaches” just like that.

 Candolim Beach Goa
Candolim is a popular beach that finds its location in North Goa. Located 15 Km from the capital city of Panajim, this beach is known for its contribution to the history in the form of Fort Aguada. Built in the year of 1612, it was meant to defend from Maratha invaders and the Dutch. Apart from this fort, tourists find themselves wandering to the nearby Lighthouse, barracks and church for more insight in Goan culture and history.

Baga Beach Goa
Thriving with activity and enthusiasm, Baga Beach of North Goa is amongst the most popular ones. Located 10 km from west of Mapusa, Baga beach is small in size but still perfect in the sense of beauty and solitude. Situation of Baga beach is in between Calangute and Colva beach. It would not be wrong to say that it is merely the extension of Calangute beach.

Aguada Beach Goa
Aguada beach is named after the 16th century monument called Fort Aguada that was built by Portuguese to defend themselves from the Dutch and Maratha Invaders. The fortress gives a breath taking view of the sea. There is a lighthouse, spherical in shape, located in the centre of the fort from where one can see Cabo Raj Niwas. The Fort now is housing the central jail that is also a matter of curiosity to many tourists along with a beach resort.

 Varca Beach Goa
Located in the town of Varca, the beach takes name from the town itself. This beach is just 2 km away from the south of Benaulim Beach and considered to be among the longest beaches of south Goa dotted with volcanic rocks. The activities that are taken up by tourists at this place include swimming, sunbathing, cruising and spotting dolphins.

 Dona Paula Goa
This beach has got its name from it town. The beach in itself is as equal a beauty as any other in the different parts of Goa. Located 7 Km away from the capital city of Panajim, Dona Paula got its name from a women named Paula Amaral Antonio de Souto Maior whose title for being married was Dona (in Portuguese). Villagers renamed the village motivated by her charities after her death.

Mobor Beach Goa
Mobor beach is one of the two beaches that are located on the either side of river Sal that flows in to the Arabian Sea. The other beach is The Cavelossim. Both the beaches are quite full with tourists for most of the seasons but for completely different reasons. Tourists enjoy the inexpressible expanse of shimmering sand, playing their favourite beach sport or adventure sport on Mobor and escaping for a romantic getaway at Cavelossim.

 Benaulim beach Goa
A very quiet beach, Benaulim is just 2 Km away from Colva Beach. Its quietness is attributed to the late discovery. Till date most of the people who are coming here are looking for peace of mind. The beach is quite popular for fishing and hence this is a popular sport one can consider while spending time on this beach. It is new even to the locals of Goa but now weekends are quite busy with the locals brimming with their new discovery.

Colva Beach GoaThe Colva Beach lies about 6 Kms to the west of Margao and is the oldest, largest and the most spectacular beaches of South Goa. The beach consists of about 25kms of the fine powdered white sand and is bounded along its coast by coconut palms that stretch from Bogmalo in the north to Cabo de Rama in the south along south Goa's coastline.

Kerala Beaches



Beaches in the Indian state of Kerala are spread along the 550-km Arabian Sea coastline. Kerala is an Indian state occupying the south-west corner of the subcontinent. The topography of the coastline is distinctive and changes abruptly as one proceeds from north to south. In the northern parts of Kerala, in places such as Bekal, Thalassery and Kannur, the headlands rise above the shore from the fringe of the beaches. The highlands are dotted with forts built by the colonial powers – the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. The view of the surrounding area is exquisite. From Kozhikode, once the hub of the Malabar coast, the view changes to flat lands with rocky outcroppings jutting out. One feature is common all through – the coconut tree in large numbers. Dense groves of coconut trees line the coast and extend to the interiors.

Alappuzha Beach, Kerala
