Anantagiri Hills, Vikarabad

Ananthagiri Hills are about 90 kilometres from Hyderabad and 6 kilometres from Vikarabad. It is a forest area in Rangareddy District and the starting point of the Musi River. The lush greenery in the hills is captivating and attracts many visitors, who want to escape from city life. Ananthagiri is also home to a Vishnu temple called the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple. During the weekends, devotees throng to the temple.

Trekking:                                                                                                                                     

                Ananthagiri hills is the best place for first time trekkers. Even the ananthagiri forest is not so deep. There are less chances of getting lost in the ananthagiri forest. Most of the people come here for trekking will follow any of the two trails. First trail starts from the anantha padmanabha swamy temple and the other starts from the area which is at-least 0.5 km from the temple towards kerelli.

Other Attractions                                                                                                                    

Ananthapadmanabha swamy temple is one of the prime attractions in ananthagiri hills. It was build by nizam nawabs, 400 years ago and has big historic importance. Most of the people visit this temple first and then proceed to trekking.

Nagasamudram lake or kotipally reservoir is situated at a distance of about 20km from ananthagiri hills. Lake is huge, clear and it offers picturesque views in Monsoon, as it is completely filled with water.

Andhra Pradesh tourism is organizing one resort in Ananthagiri hills. There are 36 AC rooms available in the resort, and tariff is 1500 per day. During weekends, the resort will be completely filled, so better book the rooms at-least one month in advance. We should appreciate APTDC for maintaining the resort in the best possible way. Location, restaurant and cleanliness are the positive points for APTDC resort.

How to Reach                                                                                                                       

Vikarabad, at a distance of 10km is the nearest town from ananthagiri hills. We have to cross vikarabad in-order to reach ananthagiri hills.

By Road:  From Hyderabad, there are two ways for reaching ananthagiri hills through vikarabad. One route is Hyderabad - APPA Junction (outer ring road) - Chilkur - Moinabad -Chevella - Manneguda - Vikarabad (approx 60km from APPA junction). And the other route is JNTU(KPHB) - BHEL - Patancheru - Rudraram - Sadasivpet(turn left) - Mominpet - Kothagadi - Vikarabad (approx 90km). After reaching vikarabad, proceed towards Ananthagiri road.

By Train: Vikarabad is situated on the Hyderabad - Mumbai railway line, so all the trains from Hyderabad to Mumbai will have a stop at vikarabad.

By Road: will be best option rather than opting for train. And it is better to travel in your own vehicle from Hyderabad, instead of using public transport for reaching ananthagiri from vikarabad, as there are limited options available in vikarabad.
